Eugenio Jardim

About Sommelier Eugenio Jardim A native of Brazil, Eugenio’s first memories of wine come from the leisurely Sunday brunches when his father would serve the slightly chilled Chianti “in fiasco” to offset the tropical heat. In 1988, Eugenio moved to San Francisco, and while working as an Assistant Wine Buyer at a local wine shop, he successfully completed the Foundation and Advanced Courses at Sterling’s School of Service and Hospitality in Napa Valley, led by Master Sommelier Evan Goldstein.

With Debbie Zachareas, he opened Eos Restaurant and Wine Bar in San Francisco in 1995. Together they established one of the most famous cutting edge wine programs in the country. Jardim became Wine Director at Eos Restaurant in 1999, propelling his career in the Wine Business to new heights.

In 2001 he took over as Wine Director at one of San Francisco’s top restaurants: Jardinière, a partnership between Chef Traci Des Jardins and Restaurant Designer Pat Kuleto. At Jardinière he and his team earned the highest four star rating from the San Francisco Chronicle Food and Wine Editor Michael Bauer and Eugenio was named the 2010 Sunset Magazine’s Sommelier of the Year.

Apart from his work in the restaurant scene he became a featured guest Sommelier at many National and International wine events, such as; ‘The Masters of Food and Wine’ in Carmel, and Daniel Johannes’ ‘La Paulée’. He has been a wine panelist for the San Francisco Chronicle and Wine and Spirits Magazine, as well as a judge for Bon Appetit Magazine’s ‘San Francisco International Wine Competition’. From 2001-2003 he also taught an immensely popular class at UC Berkeley Extension on ‘Wines of California and Europe’. Eugenio can be seen on the PBS weekly series “Joanne Weir Cooking Class”, as the show’s wine expert.

In addition, Eugenio has established critically acclaimed Wine Programs for Chef Traci Des Jardins’s Acme Chophouse, Chef Loretta Keller’s Coco 500, Chef Elizabeth Faulkner’s Citizen Cake and Orson, most recently Manzanita at the Ritz-Carlton Highlands Resort in Tahoe, and for SF Magazine’s Rising Star Chef Jessica Boncutter’s Bar Jules.
